Con-Arch installations are completed through an integrated design/build process which identifies the requirements and constraints of a project and then utilizes highly competent concrete crews to meet those.
Finite methods are used to analyze the soil structure interaction.
These techniques, applied to a soil structure interaction model, are used to develop thin, efficient, cost competitive, structural steel arches. These arches work in conjunction with the surrounding soil to carry imposed loads.
All Con-Arch structures are designed to support AASHTO HS-20 loads. The structural adequacy of the Con-Arch system has been verified by by full-scale load field testing conducted by the Highway Innovative Technology Evaluation Center (HITEC), a service center of the Civil Engineering Research Foundation (CERF). A copy of HITEC's full Technical Evaluation Report is available by contacting Con-Arch.
Unlike traditional construction methods, Con-Arch structures allow roadways to be constructed directly atop the fill, eliminating the need for approach slabs and barriers. Not only does this save time and money, but bridge roadway icing is also eliminated.
Buried Con-Arch structures provide virtually maintenance free culverts, bridges, tunnels and vaults.
